五祖弘忍大师见到求法的惠能，故意试探的问到：你是南方人啊？一个南蛮子还想学佛啊？惠能恭敬做答：人有南北之别，佛法没有南北之分。才得到弘忍大师允许，到磨房，身挂腰石干活。心性的打磨是现在很多盲目最求佛法内容的人忽略的重点，磨炼耐性，恭敬心，和求法的发心。虽然和师兄的偈颂，大家熟知的“菩提本无树”，并非真正见性，只是针对神秀有相，而反对治的单边空相，但能颠覆单一层面善恶佛魔，进入无为的寂静空，也是受到弘忍大师的赏识，加持他晚上三更传法，后授衣钵。预见必然受到众人嫉妒，弘忍大师亲自为六祖护行避难，为其掌船开示：“有情来下种，因地果还生。无情亦无种，无性亦无生。” 有情众生的法药救度，从无知到觉知的正果，与无众无法，无性无果的空有二边，结合起来，应无所住才是不可说的本性。后来六祖慧能在猎人队里苦行十多年，真正大彻大悟，出世宏法利生。经典的故事成人世间佳话，也给每个佛子带来无尽的启迪。跟随上师意念六祖惠能大师的谦卑恭敬，与觉悟见性的智慧，坚定道心，常随佛学，住不退转，吉祥永伴！

When the Fifth Patriarch, Master Hongren, met Huineng who came seeking the Dharma, he deliberately tested him by asking, “You are from the South? How can a southern barbarian learn Buddhism? Huineng respectfully replied, “Though people are divided into North and South, the Dharma has no such distinction.” Only then did he get the permission of Master Hongren to go to the mill and work with a stone hanging from his waist. The inner grinding of the heart is the key point that many people who blindly pursue the content of Buddhism nowadays ignore. It is to temper patience, respect, and the intention to seek the Dharma. Although the verses of the elder disciple, the well-known “Bodhi originally has no tree”, was not a direct realization of the nature of heart, but only against Shenxiu’s form, and to oppose with one-sided emptiness, but it can subvert the single level of good and evil, Buddha and demon, and enter the silent emptiness of inaction, which is also appreciated by Master Hongren, who empowered him to be taught the Dharma at night time three o’clock and later gave him the cassock and alms bowl. Foreseeing that he would inevitably be envied by everyone, Master Hongren personally escorted Sixth Patriarch to avoid the danger, steered the boat for him with the teachings: “Sentient come to plant seeds, with causes planted and fruits will grow. Insentient and without seeds, without nature and without birth.” The Dharma medicine for the salvation of sentient beings, from ignorance to the fruit of enlightenment, “without sentient and without Dharma” and “without nature and without fruits”, the combination of the two extremes of emptiness and existence, and without dwelling is the ineffable nature. Later, the Sixth Patriarch Huineng practiced asceticism in the hunter team for more than ten years, attaining complete enlightenment. He emerged to spread the Dharma widely, benefiting beings. Classic story has become a good story in the world, and it also brings endless inspiration to every Buddhist. Follow the Guru to think of Master Huineng’s humility and respect, and enlightened wisdom, and the wisdom of awakening and seeing the nature, strengthen our resolve of the path, always follow the Buddhist teachings, never regress, may auspiciousness forever accompanies!
